Hello All!
I have been thinking so much about all of you, and I hope that this email finds you and your families doing well despite the circumstances that each household is facing in their unique ways. I'm hoping that everyone has seen the communication from Mr. Gentile and that remote learning for elementary students is set to begin tomorrow. Please know that your child's learning will look different from household to household and how you focus on these lessons or adapt the supplies needed, will vary on what works for you as a family. This is key. Please do what works for you.
I have made a few videos to help explain some of what's to come. This email will also support the information that is in the videos so that you can refer back to it if needed. Please also see the attached intro letter from our Kindergarten Team.
Please watch this Parent Information video (6min):

- Visit the Coalbanks Website, https://cb.lethsd.ab.ca/ click on 'menu' and navigate to the Red Kindergarten Team site. Here you will find our lessons as they are posted each week. In the video I explain a bit more as to where to find Mrs. Chinn's classroom site.
Epic Book Video instructions (6min): Epic Books Video
Epic Books: This is a fantastic website for extra reading that is free for families from now until June. There is also an app if you'd rather use that instead of a desktop computer. My classes are familiar with this already as we have been using it since January during our Laptop days.

3. Leader Day's and Calendar Video (6min):Leader Day Video
I hope to continue with our classroom calendar. Leader days will look a bit different. I am asking students for the month of April if it's their leader day to answer the question "What is your favourite animal and why?". They can respond via email to me, with a picture drawn or taken, or a short video response. I am also sending out a kindness challenge for leaders to complete. More information will come on the calendar once posted starting April 6. Leader Day's will start April 6 and it will be posted on Mrs. Chinn's class website (see below).
Tomorrow we begin! Please make sure to check out our classroom page https://redkindergartenteam.schoolsites.ca/coalbanks-kindergarten/mrs-chinn for tomorrow's video that I will post for tomorrow morning to start off the week!
Thank you to everyone who has reached out over the past two weeks. It is very much appreciated as I SO miss connecting with your children. Your support has been incredible and I hope that I can provide the same for you. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.
One more thing. At the end of our Kindergarten Days, we always show gratitude for our day. We would sharing something that we enjoying doing or something we were thankful for. We always ended with 'Thank you for a great day.' Please consider keeping this kindergarten tradition. I think it's so very important especially during the coming days, that students focus on something they are grateful for. If you already as a family have a way of doing this that is unique to you, then that is wonderful I'm so glad!
Take care,
Laurie
