Kindergarten Curbside Farewell

Hello Kindergarten Families,

We are reaching the end of our school year.   Nothing that has happened, in the past few months has been regular, and our year end follows that same pattern.  Still, we feel so close to your children and want to celebrate how they have flourished over the year. We feel confident that, despite the challenges all families are facing, your child’s little personality has continued to develop, and their learning has continued in different but valuable ways.  So, in order to acknowledge the end of Kindergarten we have come up with a simple little plan to connect with families who are interested.

We are going to be doing curbside pick up of your child's kindergarten certificate as well as a chance to say farewell to their teacher on Thursday, June 18th at the school. This will give your child the chance to see their teacher one last time this school year and us the chance to give them a proper send off to grade 1 in the fall.

Each teacher will have a 1-hour time slot during which they will be outside of the school at the teacher’s entrance.  Families will be invited to drive by with their child to pick up his/her package. We ask that you come during the time allotted to your teacher to avoid confusion as we are trying to meet with 5 different classes of children in 1 day. We also ask that you please stay in your car to help with social distancing as well as to keep the flow of traffic going. We ask that you look at the map of the parking lot provided and follow the flow of traffic to avoid any bottle necks.

We also ask that prior to coming you have a discussion with your child about Personal Protective Equipment if you have not already. While you do not need to wear PPE, teachers will be wearing gloves and masks.  This is not how our students are accustomed to seeing us and we do not want it to be a shock to them.

Pick up Schedule Thursday June 18th:

9-10am - Mrs. Chinn

11-12am - Ms. Gordon

1-2pm - Sra. Morton

If for any reason you are unable to make it, do not worry. Your child's package will be delivered at a later date.

Please RSVP to this event so that we can have your child's package outside and ready for them. Just send an email to your child's teacher telling that you are planning to come to pick up your child's Kindergarten Certificate.

We hope this works for you and look forward to seeing you on this day. We wish things were different but feel that we can be a positive example to kids by maintaining a positive attitude and continuing with life in the best way that we can.

-Mrs. Chinn, Ms. Gordon and Sra. Morton

One last message for just our class,

It is with a very sad heart that I let you all know that I will not be returning to Coalbanks Elementary School this fall. I have taken a position as the kindergarten teacher at Milk River Elementary School for the new school year and I am looking forward to a new adventure but know I will miss the Coalbanks family greatly.

I wanted to let all my classroom families know this news as this school year has been totally different in every way imaginable. Back in March when I said goodbye to your children that Thursday afternoon, we cheerfully parted saying “See you next Tuesday!” but unfortunately that was not the case. I know that especially for our little ones everything to do with COVID can have a traumatic impact and I did not want to add to that when your children are able to return to school and do not see me here in the halls.

If it is at all possible for your family to make arrangements to stop by and pick up your certificate for your child, I know I would greatly appreciate the chance to say one last goodbye, even if it is a grandparent, aunt/uncle, family friend, etc. that is able to drive them by.

I hope you know what a great pleasure it has been to be able to work with you and your children this year in Kindergarten. Thank you so much for all the support you have given me as your child’s classroom teacher.

-Ms. Gordon
