Part 1:
In keeping with our lesson from yesterday, let's learn about 'sinking and floating' in Español!
¡Vamos!
it sinks - se hunde (say oonday) *remember the 'h' is silent in spanish
it floats - flota (flow tah)
Have your child listen to the following video. Before you press play, teach your child the sink/float vocabulary above. The entire video is in Spanish. The vocabulary is very repetitive and much of it will be familiar. Don't worry if your child doesn't understand everything. He/she will understand enough.
Each time Pamela is about to pull something out of the bag, press pause and have your child state their prediction by saying 'se hunde' or 'flota'. Also, have them repeat the name of the object that she pulls out of the bag.
There is lots of great vocabulary in this video. It would be great to have your child listen to this video again later this week to review.
Also, review other past blogs that contain songs. Songs are a great way to learn and review new language. Plus, my students love them!!!
Part 2:
Here is a wonderfully rich story (in English) that is totally unrelated to the above lesson but kids love it.
The Library Lion, written by Michelle Knudson, is a book about rules. Why are they important? Is it ever okay to break them? Ask these questions before and after the reading. Enjoy!
